Rocket Dog pressed her ear to the door and wondered whether she should have stolen a glass from the cafeteria. In movies people always listened at doors with glasses. Maybe there was something to it. She couldn’t hear shit like this, just the burble of voices that maybe she recognised. One was definitely Mokuba’s, another was Kareshi’s, she would bet her ass Mimi was in there, but she couldn’t identify the others. She hoped they weren’t ganging up on Mokuba to beat him up or something. No, that wasn’t their style; they preferred verbal beatings and social murder to actual cuts and bruises.
What were they saying? Should she bust in there and knock a few heads together or would that just make things worse? Should she run to fetch a teacher like some goody-goody snitch? Should she call Mokuba’s brother and have him rain fiery retribution on the popular crowd?
The door handle moved. She sprang back and dashed to hide around the corner, where she watched Kareshi and Mimi emerge. Behind them came pretty much the whole of their crew, with Mokuba bringing up the rear. He looked unscathed, if more than a little stressed.

Rocket Dog watched as Kareshi and Mimi whispered something to Mokuba, probably one last snipe that made Rocket Dog want to knock their heads against their asses, before taking off. Mokuba remained where he was, looking down at himself. Rocket Dog emerged from the corner. "Mokuba?" He almost jumped in place at the sound of her voice.
"I thought you were having lunch?" He fidgeted nervously
"I have a talent for eating quickly. Now spill it, what did those shits say to you?"
"Nothing that bad, they just...let me know what they thought of what I'd been doing." Mokuba looked away from her.
Rocket Dog's nostrils flared. "That's all, no extortion, no threats, no nothing, you're sure of that?"
"Yes, Rocket Dog, they just said not to lead people on again or else."
"Ah ha, so they did threaten you." Rocket Dog beamed oddly at that.
"No, that's...ugh, look, Kareshi likes to think he's a prince-type, so he just really went into it about making sure I treated you right!" Mokuba's eyes bugged out, his hair stood on end, and his face was as crimson as the sky at sunset.
"...and what did Mimi have to say?"
"Huh?" Mokuba couldn't read Rocket Dog's expression, had no idea what her tone meant.
"Did Mimi have anything to say about me?"
"Umm, well..." Mokuba felt his face getting even hotter. "She, she said that..."
The bell rang, sparing Mokuba at least for the moment as he ran back to class, Rocket Dog not far behind.
